Are you a caregiver? We’d like to see if a new telebuddy program we are piloting can help you and the older adults you care about.
Just Care is testing a new telebuddy program to help ensure older adults are safe and healthy at home. We want to hear about, and, where possible, address any issues they are having getting needed care and other health-related questions or concerns. We want to educate and empower older adults with Medicare and related insurance advice, as well as provide them money-saving tips and information on benefits for older adults about which they may be unaware.
Through this pilot program, telebuddies, trained volunteers or staff, will call older adults in their homes on a weekly basis.
There are a large number of free and low-cost benefits, services, and resources most of us do not know about that promote good health, well-being and safety in later life that we could share with you and/or the older person or people in your life. And, if you are a caregiver, there likely are also topics that you may prefer that someone else initiate, such as when to stop driving, balance exercises, planning for an emergency, and avoiding financial scams.
We plan to charge a $60 monthly fee for this service beginning in the new year. Right now, we are asking for a $25 donation for a 5-week trial period, just $5 a call. We would begin the program by conducting a survey to understand more about you or your loved ones and then call each week for a 20-minute conversation. If you are requesting this service for a parent or someone else you love, we will share the advice we provide your loved one with you, so you can follow up. And, with their permission, we will share any issues or concerns we learn from your loved ones with you.
Who is eligible for this telebuddy program? For now, we are limiting enrollment to older adults living in the community who are able to care for themselves in their homes. If you have questions, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
If you are interested in enrolling yourself or someone you love in this pilot, please email us at email@example.com. Before you do, if you are a caregiver and would like us to reach out to a loved one, please speak with that person to see whether he or she is willing to speak with us once a week for about 20 minutes. If so, please let us know the name of and your relationship to the person we will be reaching out to and the best telephone number to reach you at. One of our volunteers will contact you before reaching out to your loved one. We are limiting the number of participants for this pilot program to 15.
Thanks so much for your interest.
